A series of video works that examines the pagan forms and rituals inhabiting Christian places of worship. Oculus, the first in this series, was shot in the Pantheon in Rome. Through vignettes of tourists looking, watching, using cameras, the video creates a relationship based on mutual seeing between the visitors and the oculus – Latin for ‘eye,’ the great circular opening in Pantheon’s famous dome. Clarity, currently in pre-production, will focus on the walkers of the labyrinth, laid in mosaic on the floor of San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral.
